Was drafted into the first Tunnelling Coy and sent to Europe
He was badly injured by having three fingers blown off. He was decorated with
the MC and the DCM for bravery..
After the war he returned to Sydney and was proprietor of a garage in Bondi, at the corners of Curlewis Street and Old South Head Rd, and Blair and Simpson St.
Still in Australia in 1939. The name of the garage was the Thistle Super Service Station.
